Local Art Scene

Nearly every street in downtown New Haven offers the opportunity to experience world and local art, the city’s deep-rooted history, and one-of-a-kind performances. The Yale University Art Gallery houses a diverse collection of more than 185,000 works, while the Yale Center for British Art features the largest and most comprehensive collection of British art outside of the United Kingdom. ArtSpace, a contemporary gallery, spotlights the work of both regional and local artists. The city’s theater scene is unmatched, thanks to the Shubert Theatre and the Tony-award-winning Long Wharf Theatre and Yale Repertory Theatre.
